Mixed Media & Paper crafts Challenge blog: Altered Hexagonal Canvas Layout

Today, I am sharing with you all my interpretation for March moodboard of Splashymix challenge.

I was inspired by the flowers, vines and leaves, the window and the pretty pink, red, and green colors of this lovely moodboard.

To create this mixed media layout I selected two hexagon shaped canvases of different sizes. Covered the bigger and smaller hexagon . I placed the smaller hexagon in reverse manner on the bigger hexagon to get some depth.

Applied Transparent Gesso on a smaller canvas. Applied texture paste using stencil on the borders of the smaller hexagon. Also applied the same stencil using Icing paste randomly in few areas of the bigger hexagon. Distressed the corners of the bigger hexagon with distress ink. Colored the smaller hexagon using green spray and Sparks Fairy Wings.

Then, started the collage with my focal pic of a girl. Used a wooden window and different papers and tags to build my collage. Finally, decorated the layout with pink and red flowers, ribbons, birds, butterflies, laces, and vine chipboards. Lastly added a quote and did pink, golden and white acrylic paint splaters to complete my layout. Below are some close up pics on my layout.
