Fun with shades and textures

Hello crafting friends ,

March is a season for so many colours and occasions. The mood board of splashy mix challenges has lovely colours that suit the month as well as the occasions like women's day and holi.

I have taken inspiration from colours to occasions and have depicted them in my project. Have given lovely textures and used colour sprays to depict holi and a fussy cut picture and a quote for women's day. Hope you like my make and please share some love.

Altered Photo Frame

Hello crafty friends! Fairuz Fabiha here from Craftivation. Today I’ll be sharing with you a project that I created being inspired by the beautiful shades of purple & violets of the February 2020 moodboard of the Splashymix Challenge.

I have altered an old paper photo frame today. At first I primed the frame with gesso and added texture with stencils and texture paste. Sprayed diluted ink. Finally embellished the frame using die cuts, clay embellishments, sisal, cheesecloth, sentiment, flowers, pearls etc.
I used the picture of my mom as the focal point of the project.

Mixed Media Layout

Hello Everyone!

Chaitali here, I'm back with my second DT project for our moodboard this month. It is very pretty and attractive!

I was inspired by the lovely butterfly and beautiful shades of purple. Also, since February is the month of love, thought of creating a mixed media layout using the moodboard inspiration with a touch of love!

Here's my layout:

I started with creating the background of the layout, for which I used the fabulous "Lilac Flowers" paper pad from Stamperia along with some lace. Next, I a applied a coat of white gesso to the wooden door and later colored it with

Finnabair Acrylic Paint Art Alchemy Mettalique "Rustic Brown". Tilted the door a bit to get the open door effect.

Next, created the main focal point with the photo and different types of paper and lace. Futher added the Berry Frame chipboard, colored it with Finnabair Acrylic Paint Art Alchemy Sparks "Iris Potion" and Finnabair Acrylic Paint Art Alchemy Mettalique "Green Olive" along with pretty flowers.

Next, punched different types of butterflies and added them as if coming out of the door along with some natural colored Sisal Fiber. Lastly, decorated the layout with more butterflies, small hearts, and handmade embellishments like the envelope and the key. Finally, distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Wilted Violet" and added the lovely quote "Love unlocks doors" to give meaning to the creation.
