Guest designer September

 Hi everyone,

Our today's post is from our guest designer.
You could get a chance to guest design in our blog by participating in our challenge.

Here we introduce Our August Challenge winner Monalisa Dutta.

Over to her

Myself Monalisa Dutta. I am thankful to Splashymix for this wonderful opportunity to be the guest designer for this month.

I have been fond of recycling and upcycling items since childhood. I used to make little showpieces from upcycled items when I grew interest in this. I started to involve myself in mixed media art and altered art very recently and felt the passion towards it.

I am sharing my project for Splashymix September month challenge here.I created this mixed media layout inspired by Zvia .She mentioned in her inspiration project that September is the first month of Hebrew calendar. They celebrate New year in this month. So I decided to create this project by keeping that in mind. The quote of my work is "Watching and Waiting". The door is the focal element of my work which represents new hope, new opportunity, new begining and of course new life.I believe that we hope but we also know that there are fair chances that everything will remain the same, mostly the same. This month's moodboard includes basically muted colours. Staying optimistic and by using the provided colours, I tried to portray my thoughts through this layout.

Hope i inspired

Guest Designer - Monalisa Dutta -April Challenge winner

Hi everyone,
Our today's post is from our guest designer.
You could get a chance to guest design in our blog by participating in our challenge.

Here we introduce Our April Challenge winner Monalisa Dutta.

Hello friends

Myself Monalisa Dutta. I am thankful to Splashymix for this wonderful opportunity to be the guest designer for this month.
I am fond of recycling and upcycling items since childhood. I used to make little showpieces from upcycled items when I grew interest in this. I started to involve myself in mixed media art and altered art very recently and felt the passion towards it.

I am sharing my project for Splashymix May month challenge here. My inspiration quote for this project is “Love  Comforteth Like  Sunshine  After  Rain” -  William Shakespeare.

There are so many bright and vibrant colours in the colour palettes of this mood board that cheer up the mind. Being a huge fan of classic literature, that particular quote from a famous poem of Shakespeare inspired me to create this project. As we know, the sunshine (love) is comforting after a storm because it is warm, bright, calm just like the set of colours of mood board.

Hope i inspired

Thank every crafter and friend for sharing their knowledge and my family for their support.

I started  with decoupage and slowly started exploring mixed media .My recent passion has been alcohol inks .
Hope you all enjoy my make.

This months theme at Splashy Mix Challenges is “Cherish Yourself”.A wonderful theme ,a reminder for every person who lose themselves in today‘s rat race.

There have been many times when I have involuntarily compared myself with my near and dear, however I have realized over the period of time that I have to “Own Myself”.
Fat or thin, short or tall, Fair or Dark We are what we are and let’s enjoy ourselves.
I took a 10″*12″ canvas and primed it using gesso from Itsy bitsy. Took a few puzzle pieces from a worn out puzzle of my son and arranged it randomly on the canvas.

Randomly applied crackle texture paste from Itsy Bitsy .Used stencils from expression crafts and stenciled the canvas with texture paste from expression to the desired parts.

Gave an even layer of black gesso to the canvas and allowed it to air dry.Meanwhile selected the pic I wanted to use and placed it on a cardboard for giving it a 3d look.
Once dried gave the canvas a vintage look by alternating it with waxes from Itsy bitsy.Gave the puzzle pieces dimension by outlining them with blue wax.
Arranged my pic in the centre gave it an outline using laces.

Decorated the sides with flowers from Itsy Bitsy and chipboards from Papericious. Splashed diluted white gesso to give it a vintage look.

Finally arranged the quotes on the canvas and placed a woman chipboard from Papericious to complete the look.

I would like to end by telling that do remember friends “Beauty lies in the eyes of the Beholder“.

Cherish and enjoy every moment.

Thank you

Firstly, a very big thank you to Shylaa Shree ji for giving me this honour of Guest DT for the April month Splashy Mix Challenge.

Moodboard for April
 April moodboard Challenge

Here I have made a project according to the new interesting moodboard for the month of April for Splashy Mix Challenge.

Art Journal Cover Page

Procedure:

Step 1: I had applied Immix Art Essential White Heavy Gesso all over my cover page and on the sides.

Step 2: Then I applied white gesso to the MDF tags (designed by me), small one inch chipboard tags (6 pcs and pasted burlap cloth over chipboad tags) and even on the other MDF and metal embellishments.

Step 3: After applying white gesso, I arranged the embellishments, tags and also I have arranged my name (ISHA) randomly.

And also, to give grainy texture in background I applied a mixture of Immix Texture paste mixed with Immix Sprinkle Glitz and deco stones, then started with spraying Immix Sprinkle Mist Orange Blaze and after drying it, I started coloring from top left corner with sun kissed gold along with  wedding red metallic paint.

Step 4: Later I colored the MDF sentiment "Sweet little memories" with tuscan red and dusted it with silver embossing powder. And adhered the same in the center.

Finally this is the outcome of my beautiful fiery project using amazing products from https://www.expressionscraft.in/

I hope you all have liked and understood the pictorial...

Thanks for stopping by. :)

Kindly drop in some love....

Guest designer Meeta

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today we have Meeta Bhalotia as Guest designer. She was the DT favourite last month. Participate in our challenge to get a chance of guest designing in our blog.

Over to Meeta

It is such an honor to be the guest designer of Splashy Mix Challenge.

Here is my project. From the longest of time I wanted to alter my dairy in which I note down my craft related tips and tricks which I come across either by myself or from anywhere else.
So what better way to alter than by mixed media.

Here is a short tutorial for the same .

I did black gesso on the diary to cover the scary pattern on it.

Did little stencil with mixed media paste.
Then arranged the things I wanted to put on it.
Like negative of the chipboard, cheese cloth, cage, butterfly, a mdf coaster.

Added 3 pencils. To the pencils I tied cord. Then did black gesso on the whole diary.

Added Mixed media stones. Now sprayed yellow, pink and green all over randomly.

Added white gesso using dry brush.

And the dairy is ready .

I hope you all will like my mixed media dairy.

Happy Holi
Have a colorful month.
Love.
